Rachael came to my studio, a stone throw from Philadelphia’s Main Line, for her senior portrait session. Rachael is a talented actor and singer and has been seen in shows at theaters such as The Fulton Theatre and The Ephrata Performing Arts Center. Rachael aspires to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan, New York City.
The session started with a hair and makeup makeover with a professional hair and makeup artist from the Main Line. We were going for a natural pallet that was every so slightly glam while maintaining a realistic look. The result was an effortless aesthetic that matches Rachael as a person, which is very important when applying hair and makeup.
The senior portrait photo shoot took place at my Chestnut Hill Philadelphia studio, which is only a 25 minutes drive from Wynnewood, and is also accessible via SEPTA’s Regional Rail network, as the studio is located directly next to the Chestnut Hill East train station.
We began by shooting headshots for Rachael, as a headshot update was very important to her because she is actively pursuing a career in theatre. We then took her senior portraits, which were filled with a variety of different images. Some were taken inside the studio using the various walls and windows as simple but stunning backdrops that compliment Rachael perfectly. The lighting was soft but showed definition, creating flattering images. In this image, simplicity is key, with Rachael’s personality being the forefront of the image. She is somehow distilled and effervescent all at the same time, and she has a timeless beauty that she and her family will be able to revisit with these images for the rest their lives. Overall, the shoot was a very luxurious experience that allowed Rachael to feel relaxed and taken care of.
At Rachael’s reveal session, Rachael’s family came to my studio, and we shared a relaxing evening together looking at Rachael’s finished printed images. The stunning 8x12 matted prints were displayed in a print reveal that brought tears to her mother’s eyes. Seeing their daughter so beautifully captured and knowing that they will be able to cherish those memories forever was deeply touching and comforting to the family.
